  • RHI construction leader Vann Wester is busy identifying projects for youths who will take part in the DNow weekend March 23-25. For the eighth consecutive year RHI will partner with local churches for the event. DNow (Disciple Now) brings together about 200 youths from about a dozen churches for worship and work, the latter provided by RHI.

"We'll have eight to 10 projects" identified for the March 24 workday, Vann says. Projects, he says, will include repairing wheelchair ramps, hand rails and steps and yard cleanup - projects that can be completed in a day. RHI provides materials and tools. Crew chiefs are needed for the projects, beginning at 8 a.m. To volunteer, call Vann at 919-495-3099.

Youths attend worship services Friday and Saturday nights at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Overnight accommodations are provided by host homes. Guest speaker for DNow will be Dr. Jamie K. Dew, dean of The College at Southeastern. Students from Southeastern will conduct the music program.
